While pursuing the auction house today for a circuit pair, I came across this old and neglected imperial dragon. He was the saddest dragon I’ve seen, hair matted and scabs covering his body. His horns and claws were chipped and his eyes could barely open. But most of all, he was thin - to the point that all his ribs and backbones were visible. At first I was reluctant to approach, since plague dragons could carry disease but even after I wandered away - he still remained on my mind.
I found a chatty spiral in the meantime, a bright red circuit wrapped around her body. She was very young and this was the first time leaving her clan, she admitted to being a bit nervous but it calmed her when I told her of all the wind dragons in our clan. I also told her the likelihood of being exalted to the Gladekeeper and she still excitedly agreed to come with me. I sent her away to the clan while I returned to him.
He was still in the same spot. His head hung low and when we approached, his ears perked up. “I’d like to invite you to our clan, friend,” I greeted him.
"I’d very much like that," he agreed in a raspy voice. "I have suffered for far too long."
It took a great cart to ferry home back to the clan. Before I could cross the boundaries, the guards and elders were waiting for me - all with disgusted and disapproving faces.
All except for the clan leader, Nuit.
"We welcome you, friend," she said. He smiled softly and bowed his head to her. "We will have our healer help you and have you return to excellent health. In exchange, we will require that you, your mate and your offspring serve our lady Gladekeeper."
"Very well," he concurred, "but excuse me… a mate?"
The eager spiral shot across the sky from the trees and hovered in front of his maw. “Hello my love!” she squeaked before she rubbed her small head on his nose.
A faint smile curled up on his lips as we walked into the clan.
OoC; I found these two in the auction house today so I could get the circuit achievement. I was really shocked when I found he was at zero energy, and this little story appeared in my head. It’s my first time writing and drawing something like this - but it’s mostly the reason why I started my clan blog. I want to do more in the future!
